A Big Thank You

2020 has been a stressful year for so many:

  • For medical professionals
  • For essential workers
  • For those out of work
  • For those working nonstop
  • For parents
  • For students
  • For Teachers

I want to take a moment to acknowledge all that you’ve been through this year. It’s customary for many people to reflect back on the past year and all that’s been accomplished.

Notebook and text "A note of thanks"

This year I am still doing that for myself but also acknowledging all that was hard and that I’m still here and still going.

A big thank you to the parents who kept their children going and helped them find the positive through music this year.

Even though it looked different and maybe still will for a while, music is such a gift to our children. Thank you for supporting them in their music education and love of music.

A big thank you to all the teachers who kept showing up for their students despite the steep learning curve we were on this year.

Many teachers are feeling burnt out and exhausted as they come to the end of the year.

If you are a teacher we acknowledge you for continuing to show up for your students and continuing to inspire and teach whatever the circumstances.

If you’re the parent of a music student, I encourage you to reach out to your teacher and thank them, maybe with a gift, maybe with a kind note or a handmade card from your child that you mail or drop on their porch.

So many teachers need the encouragement and you can make a difference by expressing your thanks in tangible ways, big or small, as our year comes to a close and lessons may be winding down until the new year.

I think we can all use some encouragement and to know we made a difference this year. I want to acknowledge and thank YOU  . . . and I hope you’ll pass it on.
